Transitioning to the Zero-water Factory

Track 2: Managing Resources
Tuesday, June 6| 11:05 – 11:45 a.m.

Speaker: Nelson Switzer, chief sustainability officer, Nestles Water North America

Is it time to sound the alarm on water scarcity? Water is essential to sustaining the global agricultural supply chain and its ability to provide food products to a growing population.

As one of the world’s largest food companies, Nestlé is aware of the risks associated with water scarcity. How we sustain the security of water is very much at the heart of the all the value chain decisions it makes. As Nestlé implements water conservation practices and works toward its ambition to have “zero water” factories, its vision is to have the design serve as a template for industrial plants everywhere.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to make design decisions early in the process that can lead to ta zero-water industrial facility.
  • What the implications are – both financial and environmental – if the status quo is maintained regarding water scarcity.
