Maintaining Equilibrium in the Face of Corporate Growth

Track 1: Monitoring and Reporting
Wednesday, June 7 | 2:10 – 2:50 p.m.

Kisa Adkins, global environmental compliance manager, Newell

In late 2015, Newell Rubbermaid acquired Jarden Corp. in a deal valued at $15.4 billion. Newell sustainability and environmental compliance managers now had a portfolio that had suddenly grown from 30 manufacturing facilities to 170 with distribution centers and R&D facilities that churned out consumer products as diverse as car seats and Mr. Coffee coffee makers to Sharpie pens and Josten yearbooks. Suddenly they had to wrap their arms around everything from competing compliance requirements to changing hazardous waste disposal and sustainability initiatives for a company that was six times as large as before.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to prioritize tasks in a massive undertaking to accommodate the balance of environmental, sustainability and energy management initiatives.
  • What it takes to deal with moving targets regarding compliance as business models are transformed.
