Frank Rukavina is responsible for NREL’s advancement of corporate environmental, social and economically responsible decision-making and advancing the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. He leads sustainable operations, initiatives driving NREL to achieve a net-zero energy campus and provides direct support to the DOE Headquarters Sustainability Performance Office to advance sustainable operations within the national DOE facilities complex. Rukavina has directed NREL’s sustainability program for eight years, having previously served as its director of environment, health, safety and quality. Prior to joining NREL, he was the EHSQ manager for Rocky Flats Closure Site Services and health and safety manager for Kaiser-Hill at DOE’s Rocky Flats Closure Project. Rukavina holds an M.S. in environmental policy management from the University of Denver. He serves on the Jefferson County Commissioner’s Sustainability Commission Colorado.
