Acting regional administrator Environmental Protection Agency Region 8
Deb Thomas currently serves as the acting regional administrator for EPA’s Region 8 office located in Denver. Thomas has served in several positions in Region 8 including deputy regional administrator, assistant regional administrator (ARA) for the Office of Technical and Management Services, deputy ARA for the Office of Partnerships and Regulatory Assistance, water program director, permits unit chief, permits unit team leader and associate pretreatment coordinator. She began her EPA career as an enforcement officer and has extensive programmatic experience in environmental protection, as well as internal operations experience, managing more than 500 employees. Thomas received a bachelor’s degree in environmental resources engineering from Humboldt State University (Arcata, Calif.) and a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville.
